Questions About Our Walks?
Everything you need to know about exploring Kells Priory, the Kings River meadows, and heritage garden sites with us.
Our walks are designed for active retirees at a comfortable pace—no scrambling or climbing required. The Kells Priory loop takes about three hours at a leisurely pace, while the Kings River meadow path is gentler at around two hours. We build in plenty of rest stops and always prioritize enjoyment over speed.
We ask for advance booking so we can arrange transport, confirm group size, and prepare materials. It also helps us ensure you get a guide who knows the sites intimately rather than a rushed generic tour.
Wear sturdy walking shoes and dress for Kilkenny weather—layers are your friend. We recommend bringing water, a light snack, and a camera. We've created a full practical checklist on our site if you'd like more detail about what to pack for different seasons.
It depends on your specific needs. The Kells Priory site has some uneven ground and steps, but we can discuss modifications or shorter routes. The Kings River meadow path is more accessible with flatter terrain. Get in touch with us directly and we'll work out what suits you best.
Absolutely—we welcome curious explorers of all ages. Our pacing and depth suit retirees well, but if you'd like to bring adult children or grandchildren, just let us know when booking so we can pitch the experience appropriately.
Light rain won't stop us—it's part of the Irish experience—but we'll reschedule if there's heavy rain or unsafe conditions. We'll contact you as soon as we're aware of a problem and arrange an alternative date that suits everyone.
